In preparation for the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix, Suzuka is currently re-asphalting some of the circuit and making changes to the kerbstones. The race is scheduled after the Australia and Chinese Grand Prix. The Japanese Grand Prix will take place on the 4th-6th of April as it currently sits as the third race on the 2025 Formula 1 calendar. Taking advantage of the F1 winter break, the Suzuka circuit has decided to make a few adjustments to the track. Motorsport.com reports that in the first sector, they have renewed the asphalt in its entirety. They are looking to improve the water drainage and reduce the risk of water on the track. The hope is that the tyre grip will also get better due to the modifications. Adjustments to Suzuka CircuitIf the cars have more grip in the first sector, their cars will be better abled to deal with the shifting of the car's load. The first part of the track goes quite fast and is found to be technical, thus needing more grip. The extra grip available would make it so that there was less of a strain on the F1 car. Towards the end of the circuit, the final sector, they will also be installing new asphalt. Particularly towards the end where the long straight is. The asphalt is not the only area being dealt with. The circuit has also installed new kerbstones. The kerbstones feature a slightly different design. While not unusual, the corners now have gravel instead of grass.
