This topic explains how to integrate Helix Plan with Jira Server. Atlassian is deprecating Jira Server, which means that the Jira Server integration will reach end-of-life soon. If you use Jira Cloud or Data Center, see the Jira integration documentation. The Helix Plan for Jira plugin helps Jira communicate with the Helix Plan Jira integration service. A Jira administrator must install the plugin to use the integration. 1. Log in to Jira as an admin. 2. Go to the Administration area. 3. Click Add-ons. 4. Search for Helix Plan for Jira. 5. Click Install. 6. Click Accept & Install. The plugin is installed. A dialog box opens when installation is complete. 7. Click Close. Manually installing the plugin If you have installation issues or need to install an old version, you can manually install the plugin. 1. Locate the appropriate hansoft-support--JIRA-.jar file in the Jira integration installation directory (e.g., C:\Program files (x86)\Hansoft\Jira Integration). 2. Copy the .jar file to \Application Data\Jira\plugins\installed-plugins on the Jira server. You can also upload the plugin from the Jira administration area. Click Manage add-ons and then click Upload add-on. Select the .jar file and click Upload. Next step: Adding the Jira user to the hansoft-plugin-users group Collection of plugins for Helix. Admittedly I have no idea what unity gain is, but my input gain is not too high. Does native have a global EQ like the hardware version? Also one thing I thought is, how can native have the same sound as the real helix when the hardware is unknown, and changing from one computer/interface to the next? Dosen't line 6 tout how the helix sounds so good because of all the special onboard chips, input signal processors specifically made for the helix etc etc etc? Anyway, I doubt that this current rig I have will perform anywhere near as good as a hardware based modeler like the axe ...... but I've been wrong before :P also one thing I should say is that I have never been able to get a good sound with any of the software based VSTs which could point the finger at the whole scarlett setup. Any more tips on checking to make sure I'm at unity gain would be appreciated. Thanks again everyone. Input gain knob turned all the way down doesn't sound right, you could have really low input. Helix Native bocks are likely expecting more input than you are giving them. With the Helix Native input slider set to 0.0dB, you should turn up the Scarlett input until you're seeing the input meter close to mid scale for normal strumming, and no peaks going into the red for hard strumming. Unity gain doesn't apply to inputs and outputs, only blocks that have and input, do some processing and produce an output. Unity gain is setting the level in these blocks so the volume is close to the same when the block bypass is turned off and on. This means the block is neither reducing or increasing the gain that much in the signal chain and will provide a reference starting point for gain staging your patch. Helix Native does not have global EQ, you could provide that with an EQ plugin following Helix Native in your DAW or plugin host application. An audio interface that has proper gain staging and matching input impedance should not change the tone of your guitar. So Helix Native should see a pretty similar guitar input regardless of the audio interface. Now different interfaces have different quality preamplifiers, and may not have high enough input impedance for guitar. But The Scarlett should be fine unless it's broken. Helix Floor does have a very good guitar input, with variable impedance, and lots of headroom, without the need for a gain control (other than the input pad switch which might be needed for some active pickups). But all of the tone processing is done in the Helix Native blocks and these are the same as the Helix Floor blocks.
2025-04-15By Dan Boul Home recording has been a side pursuit and passion of mine for many years, but I had always found it difficult to record truly great guitar sounds outside of professional studios. I could get acceptable sounds, but they were never as good, even after spending more than $10,000 on microphones, preamplifiers, and other gear. And because of the setup time and other effort required, I would often become apathetic about doing it at all. It was just easier to book time in a local studio. Then came2020 and even what I had been doingwould no longer work. The pandemic, the lockdown, kids at home 24/7, etc. Howon earth was I supposed to record guitars? I couldn’t make any noise without ruiningmy wife’s home office experience and my kids’ online school experience. Enter the Helix Native plugin. As many ofyou know, I’ve been consulting at Line 6 for the past four years and I have hada lot of fun learning the new paradigm of the digital guitar amp world. Much ofmy time has been focused on the Helix amp and effects processor and creating impulseresponses (IRs) to help widen its vocabulary—but I hadn’t really spent muchtime with Helix Native plugin. That was a mistake! I have alwaysbeen fascinated by people who are proficient at recording amazing guitar sounds.Through my amp company and my previous life in the music business, I’ve had thegreat good fortune to sit in control rooms with some of the top producers andengineers on the planet. Through osmosis—and asking a lot of dumb questions—I’velearned quite a bit about recording guitars. I’m above average, but not anexpert. Helix Native is a powerful recording tool that has enabled me to appearto be a much better engineer than I actually am, by getting amazing guitarsounds in my home studio that I previously never imagined were possible. After having thatrealization, I took the plugin to some top-level recording engineers and askedthem if the guitar recording techniques they used in the physical world wouldtranslate to the digital domain of Helix Native. As you might imagine, most ofthe industry professionals that I brought this up with were very skeptical andit took multiple attempts to get them to even listen to the plugin. Ultimately, though, the results and responses were entirely positive. One premierproducer in particular that I’ve known for decades had a lot of fun teasing meabout “switching teams” and “heading to the dark side” by embracing digitalmodeling technology. Time after time, I’d get hilarious comments poking fun atme and zero interest in even hearing the sounds. Last year, however, he walkedin during a session in Hollywood and said, “That sounds great! What is it?” Ireplied, “That stuff you’ve been teasing me about
