Reading counts program

Scholastic Reading Counts inspires independent reading, guides instruction, and tracks reading progress. Using the software, students generate reading lists based on their own Lexile level and interests. They can choose from a wide variety of topics, including animals, sports, science fiction, history, humor, and more! After independently reading a book, a student takes a computer-generated quiz. They demonstrate completion and comprehension of the book by correctly answering multiple-choice questions. A personalized congratulations screen appears for passing it. If a student does not pass a quiz, he or she can revisit the book and retake a quiz with a different set of questions. A student may attempt each quiz three times total. Up-to-the-minute, data-driven reports help inform and differentiate instruction when a student is struggling and needs intervention.Students read more and become better readers using Scholastic Reading Counts! In addition to reading great books, they can monitor their own progress in the program and gain satisfaction when they meet attainable goals. While word count goals are fun to reach, we must focus on the ultimate goal, which is to build excellent life-long readers who read because they love to read! We recommend students select books that are 100 points below or 50 points above a student’s SRI lexile level. Books should be age appropriate. Just because a book falls within a student’s lexile range, does not mean it’s appropriate. On Unix-like operating systems, the tcpdump collects a raw dump of network traffic. This page covers the Linux version of tcpdump. Description Tcpdump prints out a description of the contents of packets on a network interface that match the boolean expression specified on the command line. It can also run with the -w flag, which causes it to save the packet data to a file for later analysis, or with the -r flag, which causes it to read from a saved packet file rather than to read packets from a network interface. Tcpdump will, if not run with the -c flag, continue capturing packets until it is interrupted by a SIGINT signal (for example, when the user types the interrupt character, often control-C) or a SIGTERM signal (often generated with the kill command); if run with the -c flag, it captures packets until it is interrupted by a SIGINT or SIGTERM signal or the specified number of packets are processed. When tcpdump finishes capturing packets, it will report counts of the following: packets "captured" (the number of packets that tcpdump has received and processed); packets "received by filter" (the meaning of this depends on the OS on which you're running tcpdump, and possibly on the way the OS was configured; if a filter was specified on the command line, on some OSes it counts packets regardless of whether they were matched by the filter expression and, even if they were matched by the filter expression, regardless of whether tcpdump has read and processed them yet; on other operating systems it counts only packets that were matched by the filter expression regardless of whether tcpdump has read and processed them yet, and on other OSes it counts only packets that were matched by the filter expression and were processed by tcpdump); packets "dropped by kernel" (this is the number of packets that were dropped, due to a lack of buffer space, by the packet capture mechanism in the OS on which tcpdump is running, if the OS reports that information to applications; if not, it will be reported as 0).
