FNAF's Ruin DLC Could Finally Free William Afton Another theme that has a frequent appearance in the Fazbear Frights book series is how animatronics can be haunted by the bad memories, guilt, and agony of its previous spirit. While this hasn’t been explored in the games, William Afton, in one of Security Breach's endings, is using his suffering, bad memories, and twisted intentions to control others through the Glitchtrap virus and haunt the Springtrap suit. However, in the books, positive memories can be used to free souls that are haunting other objects or animatronics, and according to a theory made by MatPat, this theme could return in Ruin. MatPat suggests that the girl in the teaser image could be one of William’s positive memories, running through the ruins of her father’s mind to destroy his agony-filled creations. He highlights the fact that she’s the only asset in the artwork that is in black and white, appearing to not being entirely present in the Pizzaplex. According to MatPat, she could even represent Afton’s daughter, Elizabeth, who had tragically died to an incident involving Circus Baby, making a final return in Ruin to end her father’s rampage, and finally freeing his soul.
